vincent gregory - pinguinartista
Of course, those who go to the beaches of Patagonia and remain admired in front of the impressive black and white show of hundreds of thousands of penguins in their natural habitat will have a hard time recognizing the stylized creatures that populate Vincent's works. However, if you take the time to observe your own kind with a curious eye, you will not be able to help but notice that we are all penguins, with the many little foibles and weaknesses, with the fashions and intolerances that make the human being a subject particularly suitable to be teased. Even their gregariousness has something purely human: large agglomerations of all similar beings, reminiscent of the anonymous crowds of our cities. The artist has used the animal to illustrate with indulgent irony countless typical circumstances of our society of "thinking" individuals. Furthermore, the fact that the animal on which his attention has focused resembles in many ways an awkward gentleman in a tailcoat is not at all due to chance: it is precisely this similarity that makes the combination more immediate and makes one smile.
